COURSE DESCRIPTION
Computer programming is the set or sequence of instructions that are given to a computer in order to execute the required result. A language that is used for writing those instructions is called a programming language and is also called coding.
o A programme that is human readable is called source code.
o This source code is converted into machine-readable form by the computer using a compiler.
o The result is an object programme that has binary values of 0s and 1s.
o A computer without a programme is an empty box. It is the programme that makes the
computer active.
o A computer program, also called computer software, ranges from a few lines to millions of
lines of instructions as per our output.
Use of Programming:
Computer programmes are being used in most of the fields: household, agriculture, medical, entertainment, defence, communication, etc. Here are a few applications of computer programs:
o MS Office, Mozilla, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, and other computer programmes are examples of computer programs.
o Computer programmes are used to develop graphics and special effects in movie making.
o Computer programmes are used to perform ultrasounds, X-rays, and other medical examinations.
o Computer programmes are being used on our mobile phones for SMS, chat, video calling, and voice communication.
o Computer programmes are being used in learning through different modes like apps or websites.
o A person who writes programmes is called a software programmer or developer.
Programming Languages:
It is a binary language used by machines.Humans find it difficult to understand, so they write programmes in machine language. Since machine language is difficult to understand, bits of it are replaced by numbers or commands. It is assembled in assembler before running the code. High-level language It is easier to understand and read. It includes commands for writing programmes in loops, variables, and data types. Most of these are scripting languages that don’t need a compiler or machine language before executing. Ruby and Bash are the few examples.
Some more programming languages are listed below.
C
C++
Java
Python
Java script
PHP
SQL
Programming is no longer an option but a necessary life skill. It is a digital skill that is important for aspirants in their career building.
