Grading
The CBSE grading system for class X and class XII has a 9 Point grading system, which is allotted based on both formative and summative assessments. After grading the point subject wise the total percentage is calculated and then converted in to CGPA. The student can calculate subject-subject wise percentage for themselves by multiplying the GP for each subject with 9.5. The student can also calculate an indicator percentage for overall marks by multiplying 9.5 to the CGPA. There is also a quick way to convert your CGPA to a percentage. For it, you can use a CGPA Calculator. The calculator’s software is capable of automatically calculating the percentage of the student with the available CGPA. This is why there is a lot of time-effective work when a CGPA calculator is used. This also saves students a lot of manual work to individually calculate the percentage of each subject. The calculator is effective when it comes to showing the percentage result subject-wise. There will be each subject mentioned as Subject 1, Subject 2, etc. All students are required to do is to click the exact grade allotted to them. The grades can lie between A1 to E2. Before proceeding to CGPA one should know the basic grading system which is allotted as per the table below:How is grading allotted?
• Subjects of internal examinations in Class X, XII , the assessment shall be made on a 5 point scale I.e. A, B, C, D & E. and are awarded by school authorities after the internals. While as for the external examinations grading is done on 9 point scale. • Assessment of theory/practical papers in external subjects shall be in numerical scores. In addition to numerical scores, the Board shall indicate grades in the marks sheets issued to the candidates in case of subjects of external examinations. In case of internal assessment subjects, only grades shall be shown. • The practical qualifying marks in each subject of external examination shall be 33% . However at Senior School Certificate Examination, in a subject involving practical work, a candidate must obtain 33% marks in the theory and 33% marks in the practical separately in addition to 33% marks in aggregate, in order to qualify in that subject. • For awarding the grades the board puts the first top candidates in every subject and gives accordingly by the next 1/8 top candidates and follows the same for every grading and E grade achiever is failed as per norms. • In case of a tie, the students getting same scores out of 100 will get same grades too. Anyhow this would change if the number of appearing candidates exceed 500 from a school.Internal Exam Grading:
As the internal examination also has 5 point grading, it totally depends on the school to conduct as many assessments as they can but most of the schoolsm prefer the 3 summative and 6 or more formative assessments along with some project works and many other activities. Formative assessment is a monthly assessment which is conducted after every two chapters/units. And its division per subject depends on the number of chapters/units a subject has. Till they reach the end term all the chapters should be covered. Summative assessment is a term based examination and the collective grading in all semester gives the end result till the class IX and class X and XII have board exams for there passing out.
